MOUNT VERNON – Bob Crumm, 75, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023.

He was born in Effingham, Illinois to Ruth and Robert Crumm and moved to Mount Vernon as a toddler. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School (MVHS). Bob raced go-karts all over the country and won many trophies. Bob played cornet in the MVHS marching band. He attended Parsons College in Iowa.

Bob apprenticed as an electrician, making him the third generation in his family to do so. He was the trustee for IBEW 688. He received a 50-year pin from IBEW.

Bob married Karen Naylor (the boss’s daughter) and together they welcomed a daughter, Amy Michelle, to the family. Their home was filled with laughter and music. Bob learned to play the hammered dulcimer and performed for church, social events and rest homes. He was a member of the Mansfield Dulcimer Club.

As a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Bob served as an elder, trustee and deacon. He helped with many projects, including the installation of the Mueller organ. Bob played baritone in the church’s brass choir.

After the sudden loss of Karen, he met and married Mary Pfeiffer. Together they attended the Columbus Symphony Concerts, the Ohio Light Opera performances and OSU football games, including bowl games. Bob especially enjoyed the OSU marching band.

Bob loved Mini Coopers and owned several, including a 1974 Innocenti which won many trophies at car shows. He was an avid golfer.

Bob is survived by his second wife, Mary Crumm, and stepchildren, Sally Pfeiffer and Paul Pfeiffer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Karen and his daughter, Amy.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 106 North Gay St. in Mount Vernon.

The Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel is handling the arrangements for the Crumm family.
