MOUNT VERNON – The Knox Community Hospital (KCH) Auxiliary recently awarded nine $1,000 health care scholarships to area high school seniors.

Students were considered on the basis of their scholastic standing, community involvement, as well as financial need. Auxiliary scholarship committee members received and considered a number of applications prior to making their selections.

The following students were chosen to receive scholarships: Mia Armstrong, Ella Arny, John “Charlie” Bell, Ashley Cockrell, Ella Conway, Grace Mayville, Elizabeth Miller, Zane Stricker and Laney Wenger. This was the sixth year for the Nellie & Lowell Truex Memorial Scholarship, which was given to Celeste Swihart and Anastasia Kraus.

The auxiliary is a group of volunteers that raise money for these scholarships through annual fundraising events. Additionally, sales in the gift shops contribute to the scholarships. To receive information on volunteer opportunities at KCH, please contact the Marketing Department at 740-393-9086.
