MOUNT VERNON – City residents can participate in the 2023 Mount Vernon Clean-up from May 15-20.
The clean-up is for city residents, who must bring their ID to prove residency, according to a press release from the city.
Only household waste will be accepted. No hazardous materials, yard waste, roofing, concrete or tires will be accepted.
Mayor Matt Starr said the clean-up is “for residents to be able to clean out their garages, homes, whatever and get rid of that for a minimal cost.”
Residents pay $10 per load, with the city paying the rest of the fees. Residents will be charged an additional $3 for a safety vest unless they wear a high-visibility shirt or vest. No cash will be accepted. Bring a check, money order ($10 exactly, or $13 if a vest is needed), or credit or debit card.
Loads may be taken to Republic Service at 107 Tilden Ave., Mount Vernon. As all loads must be weighed on the scale, residents will be required to go directly to the back gate behind the building.
Drop-off times on May 15-20 will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m.; and Saturday, 8 a.m.-noon. Scales close promptly at those times with no exceptions.
Residents who have questions can call Republic Services at 740-263-3158.
