The Central Ohio Youth Ballet is celebrating the placement of banners noting its upcoming show.

The banners were placed on light poles throughout Mount Vernon.

“The lamp post banners are up and look amazing!!!!! A huge THANK YOU to Markt Custom Apparel of Mount Vernon and Experience Mount Vernon for making them a reality!! We can't wait to take the stage at The Woodward Opera House on May 12 at 2:00 and May 13 at 2:00 and 7:00. Come on down and see the show! The May 12 and 13 productions will be of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

“Central Ohio Youth Ballet's 2023 spring production will offer 4 contemporary new works and the lighthearted classical ballet, A Midsummer Night's Dream. During the ballet, two Athenian couples find themselves in an enchanted forest surrounded by magical fairies, mystical wood nymphs, playful woodlands, a Donkey named Bottom and endless mischief! Come see the adventures unfold!” The Woodward Opera House's website reads.

A Midsummer Night's Dream is a comedy written by William Shakespeare. It is one of the most commonly performed works of Shakespeare. It tells the story of the marriage of Theseus and Hippolyta.

“A story of order and disorder, reality and appearance and love and marriage. Theseus, Duke of Athens, and Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons are to be married and great celebrations are planned,” is how the Royal Shakespeare Company describes the play.

The Central Ohio Youth Ballet is based in Newark. It provides opportunities for youths from 8 to 18 the ability to perform in ballets across central Ohio. The COYB is in its 29th season.

The COYB offers two main productions each year, "The Nutcracker and the spring production, along with numerous smaller venue outreach offerings throughout the year, drawing dancers from seven central Ohio counties,” the COYB’s website reads.

It also offers many opportunities for young dancers.

“The Central Ohio Youth Ballet joins with professionals and young dancers in the pursuit of excellence. Parents of former company members have voiced appreciation for the character development, discipline and leadership skills they feel their children have gained from COYB,” its website further reads.
