Clear Fork 61, Fredericktown 29

Fredericktown (2-7, 0-5) benefitted from another solid scoring night out of Cally Carpenter, who is among the top scorers in the KMAC this season.

But, Clear Fork (5-2, 4-1) proved to be far too much for the Freddies with a 61-29 win on Dec. 27.

The game was a blowout from the first quarter, with the Colts taking a 25-7 lead. Jill Bouton scored a pair of baskets to lead the Freddies with four points in the quarter. The Colts continued their dominance, outscoring Fredericktown 17-4 in the second, to take a huge 42-11 lead at halftime. Carpenter and Vika Arnett scored the only two baskets.

The Freddies scored eight points in the third quarter and allowed 14 points by the Colts. Carpenter led Fredericktown with five points, including a three. Carpenter turned it on in the fourth quarter with a pair of threes and eight total points. Though the Freddies outscored the Colts 10-5, it was too little, too late for a comeback attempt.

Carpenter hit three shots from downtown in the game and had 15 points to lead the Freddies in scoring. She is third in the league in scoring at 14 points per game and tied for first in assists with 3.0 per game, according to the KMAC website. Bouton chipped in with four points, Mya Bryant and Ella Bouton each had three, and Arnett and Kit Bellman added two points.

Pleasant 56, Cardington- Lincoln 27

Cardington-Lincoln (7-3, 5-0) has had a solid season thus far. But, on Tuesday night it was another story, in a 56-27 blowout loss to Pleasant (6-3, 3-2) to snap a six-game winning streak for the Lady Pirates.

The first quarter was all Pleasant; they took a 14-4 lead with Lydia Hess scoring all of C-L's points. Down 16-4 with 6:40 remaining in the second quarter, Hess worked to chip away at the deficit with a three. Later, with the score 22-10, Hess struck again with a steal with less than a minute on the clock in the half. Madison Caulkins added a block as the quarter came to a close to keep the Pirates within striking distance, down 12 points.

The tight Pirate defense led to a Samantha Miller steal in the third quarter, with Pleasant ahead 25-10. She had another steal with 5:20 on the clock at 27-14. With the score 30-16, C-L's Abigail Hardwick attacked for another steal. Pleasant outscored the Pirates 12-11 although Hess had five points in the quarter and Caulkins scored all four of her game points.

Hardwick stepped in front of a pass for another steal at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The wheels fell off in the quarter, however, and in the end, it was a lopsided win for Pleasant. The Pirates were outscored 22-6 in the fourth despite baskets by Hess, Magi Hallibrin, and Kinstin Henthorn.

Hess was the top performer for the Pirates with 14 points in the game.
