CENTERBURG – Charles (Chuck) Kerschner Sr., 86, of Centerburg, Ohio passed away on Dec. 22, 2022 after a long illness.

Chuck was born on April 18, 1936 in Orient, Ohio to the late John and Sara (Pierce) Kerschner. He married the love of his life Nellie (Kay) Kerschner on Dec. 23, 1957, and they enjoyed 65 years together before his passing.

Chuck proudly served in the United States Marines Corps and was a member of both American Legion and Amvets organizations. He worked for 30 years at Timken Roller Bearing before retiring in 1989, then went on to work for Cooper Industries for an additional 10 years. Chuck had a deep love of the outdoors, particularly fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, playing cards or just being together enjoying each other's company.

He is survived by his beloved wife Nellie (Kay), his sons Charles Jr. (Martha), Dean (Cheryl), and John (Michele), his daughter Sherry Dennison (Randall) and grandchildren Christopher, Shaun, Sophie, Calib and Braydn and his great-granddaughter Allison; brother, Walter (Jane) Kerschner and a sister, Eva Mae (Stan) Bartholemew.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Kerschner and John Lee Kerschner.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 29 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., in the DeVore Snyder Funeral Home, 637 S.R. 61, Sunbury, OH 43074, with Celebrant Ed Schlote officiating. Burial will be in the Eastview Cemetery, Centerburg.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
