To the Editor:
The Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities changed my daughter's life. This is a million percent true. I don't know where my daughter would be without the therapist who worked with and treated her.
When my daughter had a stroke at birth, Columbus Children's Hospital NICU referred us to the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities. This free service took my daughter from "won't talk" and "won't walk hemiplegic" (to wind the clock 17 years) to a college student who walked up and received her National Honor Society cord on her graduation day, and is never quiet. She is pursuing a speech therapist degree. She says to me, "Mama, I am going to help people talk like they helped me."
