To the Editor:
We are living in a time where it seems the cost of everything is going up and we are having to look closely at where our money is being spent. As we approach election day, I want to bring your attention to a YES VOTE that will actually lower your taxes – the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities Renewal Levy. The Knox County Board of DD has managed their funding responsibly and as a result, they have been able to request LESS money for their renewal levy.
The Knox County Board of DD is a community organization that is vital to many individuals and families in our county. As a mother of child that has used Knox County Board of DD services for many years, I can confidently say that the quality of life of my child and my family is better because of the support that we have received from the board. Without the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities, services and supports that allow children and adults to engage in the community would become difficult to access. These opportunities provide valuable social and physical skills for the individuals served and they make all our lives richer for having the chance to live, work and play in an inclusive community.
Please VOTE YES for the KNOX COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES RENEWAL LEVY on Nov. 8, 2022. It will cost taxpayers less money and the benefits to our community will be priceless.
