On Wednesday, Aug. 31, Danbury Senior Living in Mount Vernon held its official ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new senior living community at 1605 Venture Drive.

Mayor Matt Starr spoke to the attendees, as did Danbury founder Bill Lemmon and Danbury Mount Vernon Executive Director Kim Williams. Several chamber members participated in the ceremony. Before cutting the ribbon, the Amvets of Mount Vernon, Post 95, performed the flag-raising ceremony, followed by the Apple Valley Singers of Howard performing the national anthem.

Light refreshments and some appetizers were offered after the ceremony, including crab stuffed mushrooms, mushrooms casino, spanakopita with tziki dip, braised short rib potato spoons and more.
