In recent Knox Babe Ruth League action, all of the games were blowouts, with an average winning margin of 11 runs, but no team went on a two-game roll as Elks and Moose each went 1-0, Rotary 1-1, Griffin Insurance 1-1 and Kiwanis 0-2.

Moose 15, Griffin Insurance 10

In what was a high-scoring matchup with both teams getting into the double digits, Moose was able to come away with a 15-10 win over Griffin Insurance.

Griffin Insurance got on the board in the first inning when Bryce Kreger came around to score on a Caden Ridenhour double. Moose responded with a two-run first inning to go up 2-1, with runs scored by Mason Mitchell and Vincent Kizer.

The second inning was a big one for both squads, with Griffin Insurance putting up six runs to make it a 7-2 game. Moose then put up seven runs to go up 9-7. Both teams were held scoreless in the third inning, but Griffin Insurance scored three runs in the fourth highlighted by a double by Mason Holt, making it a 10-9 game. Moose followed with a six-run fourth inning to close out the game, which was highlighted by an RBI single by Brayton Vernon.

Moose was led by Vincent Kizer, who reached base four times in the game, leading to three runs scored. Griffin Insurance was led by Caden Ridenhour, who had two doubles, a single, and a run scored.

Rotary 18, Kiwanis 4

It was all Rotary, who dominated in a 18-4 victory.

Both teams scored a run in the first inning, with Arie Lust smacking an RBI single for Rotary, driving home Gauge Stull. Landon Byrnes hit an RBI single to knock in Ayden Lehman, who had tripled before him for Kiwanis, making it a 1-1 game. Will Armstrong scored a run in the second for Rotary, and Kiwanis was held scoreless, making it a 2-1 game in favor of Rotary.

In the third inning, Rotary’s Gauge Stull led off with a single, followed by a single by Preston Hempfield. After a couple of ground outs, Brayson Armstrong and Will Armstrong hit back-to-back singles scoring Stull and Hempfield, and Brayson Armstrong also came around to score, making it a 5-1 game. Kiwanis responded in the bottom half of the inning with two runs scored by Colton Smith and Lehman to make it a 5-3 game.

In the top of the fourth, Rotary scored three runs, highlighted by an RBI single by Stull, and Kiwanis was held scoreless.

Then in the top of the fifth inning, Rotary ran away with the game with a 10-run rally highlighted by RBI singles by Brayson Armstrong and Will Armstrong. Kiwanis managed one run on an RBI single by Cole Smith in which Landon Byrnes came around to score, but it wasn’t enough to come back after the huge inning by Rotary.

Leading the Rotary squad was Stull, who scored four times and had a pair of RBI singles. Brayson Armstrong also had two RBI singles in the game, and scored three times. Will Armstrong had a pair of singles and scored three times.

Kiwanis was led by Lehman, who tripled and scored twice.

Elks 15, Rotary 7

Thanks to a big seven-run inning, Elks was able to come away with a 15-7 victory in which they piled on 12 hits.

Draven Elliott was the winning pitcher for the Elks, tossing two scoreless innings to start the game, allowing no hits, striking out one and walking four.

Leading the offensive surge for the Elks was Zac Clow with a 3-for-3 day in which he had a double, three run scored, two RBIs, a walk and two steals. Skylar Lawrence went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored, two steals and two doubles. Camren Schonauer went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a pair of steals.

Rotary was led by Brayson Armstrong, who went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, a run and two walks.

Griffin Insurance 20, Kiwanis 2

From the start, it was all Griffin Insurance, who cruised to a 20-2 victory on May 31.

In the top of the first, Kiwanis watched the game get away from them as Griffin Insurance scored 12 runs to go up big early. The onslaught was highlighted by Caden Ridenhour, who scored twice in the first inning while also knocking out a double and a triple. Bryce Kreger also scored twice in the inning and hit a double.

In the bottom half of the inning, Kiwanis put a run on the board with Wyatt Denoit coming around to score. 

Griffin Insurance scored four more times in the top of the second, highlighted by singles by Caleb Youngman and Ridenhour. Kiwanis responded with a run by Colton Smith, who reached on a walk. 

Griffin Insurance scored their final four runs in the third inning, sparked by an RBI double by Ridenhour.

Ridenhour was the star of the day with four hits, including a triple and a pair of doubles. He scored four times in the win. Kreger was also a top player with three runs scored, a triple and a double.

Kiwanis was led by Denoit, who reached base twice with a single and a walk. He also scored a run. The only other hit was by Landon Byrnes, who hit a single in the fourth inning.
