Games of May 22

Blow-outs and close ones, there was a little of everything on the diamond.

Outkast 5, J. Gorsuch Construction 0

Outkast was able to hold J. Gorsuch Construction scoreless with a 5-0 victory, in a game in which they scored twice in the second inning and three times in the seventh inning. Matt Ott and Michael Collins each had three singles, and Hailey Moore and Todd Bolton each knocked a double and single to lead the offense for Outkast. For J. Gorsuch, Josh Eckert was the top performer with a double and a single.

Buckeye Crane 6, Outkast 5

Outkast scored four times in the second and added another run in the fourth to make it a 5-0 game, but Buckeye Crane responded in the fourth with three runs to cut the deficit to two. In the sixth inning, Buckeye Crane sealed the win in a comeback effort with three runs, to go up 6-5. Leading the offense for Buckeye Crane was Jarred Curry, who had three hits including a double. Owen Miller and Steve Travel each banged out a double. Ritchie Blubaugh had three hits for Outkast and George Hess hit a single and a double.

Precision Floor and Trim 22, Ace of Diamonds 5

Precision Floor and Trim had an offensive explosion to come away with an easy 22-5 win over Ace of Diamonds. They had a  4-2 lead after the first inning but bombed out 11 runs in the second inning to put the game out of reach at 15-2. After a scoreless third and fourth, Precision went off for seven more runs, and while Ace of Diamonds scored three of their own, the game was easily in the hands of Precision.

For Precision, Sam Brokaw belted out six hits with three doubles, and Ashley Wyatt connected for five hits, including a homer. Austin Wyatt had three hits, including two doubles and a homer, and Anthony Miller just missed the cycle with a single, two doubles and a triple.

For Ace of Diamonds, Sheridan Williams had three hits, including a triple. Luke Elliott reached base on three singles.

Honey Buckets 10, Ace of Diamonds 7

The Honey Buckets Tavern team had lights-out pitching for the final four innings of the game and managed to come away with a 10-7 win over Ace of Diamonds. Honey Buckets was down 7-3 in the third inning but then put up three runs in the third and two runs in the fourth to take an 8-7 lead. They scored two more insurance runs in the sixth to secure the win.

Ethan Abell had three hits in the win for Honey Buckets, including a homer and a double. Travis Born had a double and a a triple. For Ace of Diamonds, Sam LiPiccolo hit a home run, and Mel Werner knocked three singles.

T.J. Thorpe Trucking 15, J. Gorsuch Construction 3

T.J. Thorpe led from the beginning, but it was a nine-run third inning that put things over the top in what ended as a 15-3 blowout win over J. Gorsuch. T.J. Thorpe was up 5-2 and then scored nine runs in their big third to go up 14-2. J. Gorsuch scored two runs in the fourth, and T.J. Thorpe added an insurance run in the fifth.

Bryce Geiger had two hits, including a homer, and Mike Patterson had a double and a single for T.J. Thorpe. For J. Gorsuch, Cody Smith knocked out a double, and Brandon McLaughlin pasted a couple of base hits.

T.J. Thorpe 18, A-Plus Auto Brokers 6

It was was anyone’s game with T.J. Thorpe holding a 10-6 lead into the seventh inning, but the wheels fell off for A-Plus Auto Brokers, who allowed eight runs and fell 18-6.

Mike Patterson provided offensive firepower for T.J. Thorpe with a homer and a single, and teammate Zack Calabretta also had a solid game with four hits, including a pair of doubles. For A-Plus, Tommy Stevison homered and singled, while Sam Yoder had a double and a single.

Howard Hilton 8, Buckeye Crane 4

Buckeye Crane took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but Hilton responded with a pair of runs in the second to take the lead and never looked back on the way to an 8-4 win. Howard Hilton scored two runs in the second, third and fifth and also had one-run innings in the fourth and sixth. Buckeye Crane had a three-run sixth, but it wasn’t enough, as Howard Hilton was able to hold on for the win.

For Howard Hilton, Avery Mullins had four hits with a double, and JJ Eshelman knocked out three hits, including a triple and a double. Cody Kohn had the lone homer in the game to go along with a single.

Buckeye Crane was led by Kenzie Rayburn’s triple and double. Owen Miller and Josh Croston had two singles each.

J. Gorsuch Construction 20, Mohican Lodge 6

J. Gorsuch Construction came out swinging with a six-run first inning and a five-run second inning to go up 11-1 early, and Mohican was never able to muster up the offense needed to make a comeback in a 20-6 win for J. Gorsuch. J. Gorsuch had a two-run third and a seven-run seventh. Mohican had a two-run third, and one-run innings in the fourth, fifth and seventh.

The offense for J. Gorsuch was mainly supplied by John Riggins, who blasted a pair of homers and tallied a single. Tim Burrell had a pair of singles and a double.

For Mohican, Cody Smith smacked out five hits with a homer and a double. Luke Yetzer also homered and had two singles. Steven Wagner and Josh Eckert both reached base on four hits with a triple and a double.

Maximum Nutrition 9, Honey Buckets 8

In what was a back-and-forth battle throughout the game, the Maximum Nutrition softball squad came through with a four-run sixth inning to lock up a 9-8 win over Honey Buckets Tavern. Maximum Nutrition scored one in the first but Honey Buckets responded with a three-run second and three-run third to go up 6-1. Maximum Nutrition scored three runs in the bottom off the third to make it 6-4, but Honey Buckets went up 8-4 in the fifth. Maximum Nutrition closed out the game strong with a run in the fifth and a four-run sixth.

Leading Maximum Nutrition was Shawn Maxwell, who had three hits, including a homer and a double, just missing the cycle. Anthony Whitt and Gavin Ricert also homered, with Ricert adding a triple.

Travis Born blasted two homers for Honey Buckets, and Ethan Abell and Adam O’Bryan also homered.

Bad Company 16, Maximum Nutrition 7

Bad Company kicked off the game with a one-run first, a three-run second and a one-run third to take a quick 5-0 lead and, while Maximum Nutrition’s bats woke up, Bad Company never trailed and took a 16-7 win. Bad Company also scored two runs in the fourth, four runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth. Maximum Nutrition had a one-run third, three-run fourth and a three-run sixth.

For Bad Company, Jordan Burson connected for five hits with three doubles. Josh Hall had three doubles and a single in the win. Travis Cornell and Justin Shaw each smashed a homer for Bad Company.

Maximum Nutrition was led by Anthony Whitt’s two home runs and Shawn Maxwell, who had a  a pair of doubles and a single.

A-Plus Autobrokers 10, The Hangout 9

A-Plus Autobrokers had a 3-1 lead in the early going and fended off a surging Hangout squad to hold on for a 10-9 win. It was a 4-1 game going into the bottom of the fourth, when Hangout exploded for five runs to go up 6-4. A-Plus responded with a three-run fifth to retake the lead at 7-6, but Hangout tied the game in the fifth with a run. Both teams had a pair of runs in the sixth, and A-Plus scored a run in the seventh to seal the win.

Tommy Stevison just missed a cycle with a single, triple and homer for A-Plus. Jenny Walter pitched in with a double and a pair of singles.

For The Hangout, JJ Davis had three hits with a double, and Cash Finnell hit a home run.

Coffing Electric 14, The Hangout 6

Coffing Electric put together four-run innings in the third and the sixth on their way to a 14-6 win over The Hangout. Coffing Electric was up 3-2 after the first and after a scoreless second inning went up 7-4 after Coffing scored four and The Hangout scored two runs. Coffing Electric tacked on two more runs in the fifth and then four in the sixth to go up 13-4, and The Hangout mustered a run each in the sixth and seventh, but it wasn’t enough to make a late-game comeback.

Coffing Electric was led by Lee Caudill, who belted a pair of homers and a double. Dillon Randall had four hits with two doubles. The Hangout was led by Cade Finnell with four hits, including two homers. JJ Davis had a pair of doubles and a single.

Coffing Electric 12, Mohican Lodge 8

Mohican Lodge had a 5-1 lead to start the game, but Coffing Electric turned things around in the middle innings to take a 12-8 victory. Coffing Electric had three runs in the third, two runs in the fourth and six runs in the sixth. Mohican Lodge scored three in the first, two in the second, a run in the fifth and two runs in the seventh.

Coffing Electric was led by Lee Caudill with a homer and two doubles. Ray Ray Young knocked out three hits, including a double. Mohican Lodge was led by John Riggins who had a homer, a double and two singles. Corbin Wengerd hit a triple for Mohican Lodge.

Howard Hilton 10, Coffing Electric 3

Coffing Electric built a 3-1 lead after two innings but couldn’t manage any more scoring as Howard Hilton was able to cruise to a 10-3 victory highlighted by a four-run sixth. Howard Hilton also had a run in the first, two runs in the third, a run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth.

Carl Russe, Rachel Goeppinger and Kohl Perkins all connected for three hits with a double for Howard Hilton. Coffing Electric was led by Corey Webb, who hit a double and two singles, and Ray Ray Young and Dillon Randall each had a double.

Bad Company 20, Tubba’s Tops 1

Bad Company came out firing on all cylinders with a 10-run first en route to a 20-1 blowout over Tubba’s Tops. Bad Company also had a run in the second, six runs in the third and three runs in the fourth. Tubba’s Tops scored its one run in the second. 

Bad Company was led by Travis Cornell, who blasted a homer, double and single, while Nicole Whitting nailed a triple and a single. Tubba’s Tops was led by Corry and Ross Boyd, who each hit a double.

Precision Floor and Trim 20, Tubba’s Tops 0

Precision Floor and Trim had everything working for them in a win over Tubba’s Tips by a score of 20-0. They scored five runs in the first, seven runs in the second, two runs in the third and six runs in the fourth.

Leading the way was Anthony Miller, who needed only a triple for the cycle. Dave Bolander hit a triple and also knocked a single. For Tubba’s Tops, John Sheasby and Ashley Ashbrook had a pair of singles each.
