Singer-songwriter Michael Batdorf is holding a free concert on the lake at Apple Valley on May 21 starting at 6 p.m.
The musician was born in Mount Vernon but now lives in Wyoming.
His parents moved back to Knox County about 30 years ago, and Battdorf visits at least twice a year, he told the Mount Vernon News.
"I come home in the fall and I come home in the spring to help them," he said. "Every time I'm here, I do a deck concert at the end of the lake toward the marina. People are welcome to bring their boats and listen. It's super chilled, laid back. Not a big PA system or anything like that."
He plays with local musicians in a band called The Easy Chair.
"We play every fall and spring when I come home," Batdorf said.
He also plays in two bands in Wyoming, including One Ton Pig, the house band at the historic Wort Hotel in Jackson for more than 15 years.
Batdorf has recorded nine solo albums, five One Ton Pig albums, many compilations, soundtracks and film scores.
The concert is his way of giving back to the Apple Valley community and bringing people together.
He hopes Apple Valley residents will like the music and ask him to perform on his next trip home.
