FREDERICKTOWN – Stanley Charles Gregg passed away peacefully at home from natural causes Friday, April 8, 2022, 22 days short of his 99th birthday. Born at the family farm May 1, 1923, he was the son of Howard M. and Lillie DeBolt Gregg.

He was a member of the Palmyra Church of Christ, where he served over the years as Elder, Deacon, Board Chairman, Sunday School teacher as well as Trustee. He was a member of Post #500 of The American Legion of Fredericktown and National Rural Letter Carriers Association. 

Stanley graduated from Fredericktown High School class of 1941, attended Muskingum College, enlisted in Army Air Corps on the 15th day of December 1942, and served until Dec. 28, 1945. After earning his silver pilot’s wings, he served as a pilot instructor for multi-engine aircraft and later flew B-24s for navigators to practice radar navigation.

Stanley started farming on one of the family farms in 1946, converting the farm to certified organic starting in 1982. He was also a Rural Letter Carrier from 1956 to 1983 and served as the State Chaplin for the Ohio Rural Letter Carriers Association

He is survived by two sons, Michael and Randy (Nancy); two grandchildren, Michelle Gregg and John Gregg; two great grandchildren, Lillian and Noria; brother Carrol Gregg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of nearly 73 years, Wilma Leedy Gregg, in 2019; an infant son, Gary, in 1957; daughter-in-law Linda (Chew) Gregg in 2017; sister Beulah Shaffer in 1993; and brother Arthur Gregg in 2020.

At Stanley’s request, there will be no calling hours and a private family military graveside service will be held at a later date.
