MOUNT VERNON – Elsie M. Murvine Hamm, 94, of Mount Vernon passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus in Mount Vernon. She was born on May 8, 1927, in Woodsfield to the late Otto E. and Edna C. (Hoff) Saffle.
Elsie retired from Kroger’s in Mount Vernon with over 40 years of service. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards at the Moose Lodge, having lunch with her Kroger friends, taking vacations with the girls and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, but most of all, Elsie loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Elsie was a Methodist by faith.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Joe) DiPolito of Deland, FL; stepdaughters, Bonnie Sxuch of Arizona and Kimberly (Rob) Householder of Texas; stepsons, Donald (Barb) Hamm of Mount Vernon and Doug (Julie) Hamm of Mansfield; grandsons, Andy (Cindy) Pursel of Marengo, Randy (Jodi) Pursel of Amity and Ryan Murvine of Newark; and several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husbands, Denver Murvine and Byron Hamm; a son, Alan Andrew Murvine; stepson, Dennis Hamm; and a brother, Robert Saffle.
The family will have a graveside service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Mr.Roger Marra officiating.
