DANVILLE – Eva Lucille (Bower) McGinnis, 89, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Danville to the late Charles and Lena (Barnes) Bower. She was a 1951 graduate of Danville High School. On August 30, 1956, she married her husband of nearly 49 years, William Meek “Bill” McGinnis, Jr., who preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2005. She was a member of the Danville Church of Christ.
Eva was a faithful Christian and an inspiration to many, having led many people to the Lord. She loved her church and her church family. She was “Aunt Eva” to many, even if she was not their aunt. For many years, she farmed alongside her husband, Bill, raising sheep, rabbits, turkey and pigs.
She is survived by a sister, Janet (George) Daley; a sister-in-law, Marge Bell; a brother-in-law, Lawrence (Kathy) McGinnis, all of Mt. Vernon; several nieces and nephews; and her cat, Molly.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Avis Hagelbarger, Laura Thorne, Maxine Stricker, Ruby Ridgway and Evelyn Leisure; and a brother, Howard Bower.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with Pastor Steven Rich officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, at the funeral home.
