MOUNT VERNON – Alma L. Sammons, 80, of Mount Vernon went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022. She was born on Oct. 26, 1941, in Columbus, the daughter of Alden and Berneda (Legg) Earles. Alma worked as a licensed nurse.
Alma was a member of the Shekinah Christian Church of Heath and the End-Time Handmaidens of Arkansas. She enjoyed reading her bible and taking care of her flower garden. Alma was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved nothing more than being with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Paul Sammons; her children, Steve (Cindy) Burgett of Howard, Tom Burgett of Buckeye Lake and Tania (Mike) Marrah of Green, Ohio; six grandchildren, Cole (Laura) Burgett, Weylin Burgett, Travis Burgett, Logan Bury, Sam Bury and Paige Marrah; and four great grandchildren, Keagan Burgett, Morgan Burgett, Alden Burgett and Wesley Burgett.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wesley Burgett; and a daughter-in-law, Gloria Howell Burgett.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life service at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Alma L. Sammons.
