MOUNT VERNON – Anita V. “Susie” Lahmon, 93, of Mount Vernon passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at Brookdale of Mount Vernon.
She was born in Knox County on Oct. 29, 1928, to the late Dean and Ruby (Lauderbaugh) Beckholt.
Susie was a member of the Owl Creek Baptist Church near Mount Vernon and was a member of the Utica Friendly Senior Citizens Club and the Kokosing Valley Antique Tractor Club with her husband Shorty. Susie worked at Kenyon College 20 years in the maintenance department.
She is survived by her children Gordon (Linda) Lahmon of Mount Vernon, Linda (Fred) Mickley of Danville and Terry (Lisa) Lahmon of Mount Vernon; grandchildren Jenny (Bill) Kempton of Mount Gilead, Tammy (Bill) Coakley of Howard, Charlotte Smith of Marysville, Ohio, Garrett (Beth) Mickley of Indiana, Scott (Michelle) Lahmon of Howard, Bethany (Kurt) Heffelfinger of Perrysville, Derek Lahmon of Mount Vernon; great-grandchildren, Dr. Emily Roberts, Levi Roberts, Aleyna Smith, Kayleb Hull, Travis Mickley, Jordan Mickley, Tripp Heffelfinger, Tynley Heffelfinger, Braxton Lahmon, Zach Lahmon, and baby Heffelfinger due in May of 2022; brother Wayne (Mary Jane) Beckholt of Fredericktown and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Susie was preceded in death by her husband Ralph “Shorty” Lahmon in 2008, brothers Jack and Harry Beckholt and her sister Jean Robbins.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Shorty in Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier at a later date.
