MOUNT VERNON – Earl J. Moore, 75, of Mount Vernon passed away on Jan. 31, 2022, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon. He was born on Aug. 27, 1946, to Jesse H. and Ellen (Smith) Moore in Mount Vernon.
Earl was a member of The Salvation Army in Mount Vernon where he was an active member of the Men’s Club. Earl enjoyed collecting hat pins, hunting and fishing whenever he could. He enjoyed the meetings and fellowship at Camp Sychar.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Maslowski) Moore; a daughter, Rebecca J. Moore of Gambier; a son-in-law, William A. Barnes; grandchildren Jamey (Shane) McCarthy of Mount Vernon and Jesse Barnes of Mount Vernon; great-grandchildren Kayden and Edison McCarthy; a sister, Janet (Gary) Dudgeon of Marengo; and a brother, David F. Moore of Johnstown; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Beth Anne Barnes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Earl’s memory to Camp Sychar or The Salvation Army of Mount Vernon.
Calling hours will be Monday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. with a memorial service at The Salvation Army, 206 E. Ohio Ave., Mount Vernon, at 11 a.m. Burial of ashes will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Gambier.
