MOUNT VERNON – Nena D. Blair, 74, of Mount Vernon passed away on Jan. 25, 2022, at Knox Community Hospital. She was born on June 4, 1947, to Garth and Grace (Chopson) Palat of Baton Rouge, La.
Nena was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was very involved in children's activities in Knox County. Nena was a 4-H adviser, a Big Sister in the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. She also ran some of the programs in Knox County for Big Brothers, Big Sisters. She was also active in the local School PTO. Nena was a big part of the Knox County Rehab program, helping homeowners that could not afford updates like electric or roofs or plumbing. She was very involved in bible studies and her bible group with the Amity Church women. She also ran the Kokosing Campgrounds in Fredericktown for many years while she loved camping.
She is survived by her husband, Chancy Blair Jr.; daughters Cherie (Bob) Martin of Fredericktown and Christina Barker of London; grandchildren Joel (Keshia) Buckland, Tara Buckland and Jake Buckland; great-grandchildren Hayes, Sadie and Kaliope; and many extended family and friends.
Nena was preceded in death by her parents and siblings David Palat, Mark Palat and Elizabeth Perry.
The family will be having private services at a later date.
