Girls softball registration set for February-March

Mount Vernon girls softball will be holding registration for the 2022 spring season. Registration is for girls ages 5-16 as of Jan. 1, 2022. Registration will be held at the Urton Clock House at Ariel Foundation Park on the following Saturdays: Feb. 26 and March 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A photocopy of the player’s birth certificate must be presented at registration for the process to continue, and masks are required at registration.

Bulldog boys roll on with 182-pin win over Wynford

The East Knox Bulldog boys bowling team rolled to a victory over Wynford, 2,204-2,022, Wednesday. 

The team bowled a high 1,025 in the second game to pull away from the Royals, a team with 40-plus years of bowling history. Sophomores Dylan Reed (471), Will Jensen (451), Jordan Hull (294) and senior Lucas Barnard (376) anchored the team with support from Lane Lashley, with a single-game high of 171.

The EK boys JV team lost, 1,392-1,245. Colin Baxter (251), Wyatt Ary (231) and Kieran Karlovetz (160) led the way, with Aidric Bocock, Noah Coontz, Jacob Neighbarger and Garry Cooper each bowling a single game.

On the girls bowling team side, the varsity team lost, 1,493-1,425. Olivia Nastasi (333), Paige Stover (285) and Chloe Stevens (251) were top Lady Bulldog bowlers, with support from Hailey Baker, Miale Hurlow, Riley Cree and Madi Frost.
