MOUNT VERNON – Paul E. Perry, 84, of Mount Vernon passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on Oct. 29, 1937, in Bloomfield, Ohio, the son of Willie E. and Lulu Mae (Feasel) Perry. Paul proudly served in the United States Army. He was employed in a supervisor position for Weyerhaeuser, Stone Container and PCA  before retiring in 2011. 

Paul was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved life and enjoyed being around his family. He enjoyed adventuring around Knox County, viewing eagle’s nests and wildlife, and repairing and maintaining his home and yard. He was an avid Buckeye fan and was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. Paul will be sadly missed by his family, many friends and co-workers.  

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Goss) Perry, whom he married in 1962; his children, Roger (Maurine) Perry of Mount Vernon and Beckie (Jim) Swetlic of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Rich Perry, Candie (Rick) Wells, Will (Angie) Perry, Dylan (Kristin Spaudling) Swetlic and Summer (Kyle Zitron) Swetlic; four great-grandkids, Josh Perry, Damien McCloud, Aubrey Wells and Jackson Zitron; a sister, Jean Rosen of Loudonville; and his canine companion Winston. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Bertha Smith, Hazel Spurling, Frank Perry, Junior Perry and Julia Byers.  

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Paul E. Perry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Paul’s name may be made to his furry friends at the Knox County Animal Shelter.
