MOUNT VERNON – John Monroe Lemley, 71, of Mount Vernon went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born on July 10, 1950, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to the late Herman and Bertha (Nichols) Lemley. John was the owner and operator of Lemley Roofing for many years. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, shooting sports, playing his steel guitar, hunting, mushroom hunting and being outdoors. He also enjoyed being a member of the Fraternal Order of Elks #140. John was a veteran serving in the United States Army.
He is survived by his sons, Joshua (Shawntee Carpenter) Lemley and Dale (Shanna Wilder) Hawker; two grandchildren, Lakelynn Lemley and Kaleb Lemley; his brothers Mike Lemley and Roger Lemley; his sisters Kim Lemley and Beverly Sobers; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends and will be missed greatly by all.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by the mother of his child and best friend, Judith (Harrington) Lemley; and his sister-in-law Janice Lemley.
In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private service at a later date.
