MOUNT VERNON – Patricia Ann Payne, 86, of Mount Vernon passed on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, at her home with her caregiver of 11 years, daughter Elizabeth, by her bedside. She was born on May 16, 1935, in Mount Vernon to the late Paul and Eleanor (Bowden) Styers.
Patricia retired from Wenco/Jeld-Wen in 1992, where she worked as an assembler and saw operator. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and camping and especially loved her Sunday family get-togethers.
Patricia is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth “Libby” Lehman of Mount Vernon and Lori Payne of Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue (Larry) Deakins of Amity, Nancy (Bruce) Laird of Newark and Debbie (Dick) Cline of Newark; brother, Paul (Gayle) Styers of Fredericktown; several nieces and nephews; her canine companions, Bella, Lulu, Tesa and Abbie; and her feline companion, Momma Kitty.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Paul H. “Buck” Payne, on Feb. 14, 2016; and sons, Michael P. and Samuel R. Payne.
In following with Patricia’s wish, the family will have a private service in Amity Cemetery at a later date.
