MOUNT VERNON – Mable J. Thomas, 92, of Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, at Country Court Nursing Home. She was born on Oct. 6, 1929, in Charleston, West Virginia, the daughter of Germaine and Pearl (Cline) Lambillotte. Mable worked as a cook for the Knox County Jail.

She was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Elks. Mable enjoyed taking care of her roses, and she liked to take rides on the pontoon boat where she fished with her late husband, Jim.

Mable is survived by her daughter, Denise Freshly of Columbus; a sister, Glendene Hoffman of Mount Vernon; sister-in-law, Joan Lambillotte; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas; three brothers, Duane Lambillotte, John Lambillotte and Don Lambillotte; a sister, Valjean Knerr; and sisters-in-law, Anna White Lambillotte and Betty Lambillotte.

The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Mable J. Thomas.
