MOUNT VERNON – Kay “Pa” Parmer, 82, of Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born on May 7, 1939, in Mount Vernon to the late Edmond and Clara (Lepley) Parmer. 

Kay graduated from Sparta High School in the Class of 1957. He was a farmer, truck driver and factory worker, but farming was his main passion. Kay attended Willow Grove Advent Christian Church in Mount Liberty. One of Kay’s enjoyments was meeting on Tuesday mornings with the men’s group at the Fairway condos. He liked camping and going to Florida every winter. 

He is survived by his children, Valerie Smith, Yvonne (Roger) McDonald and Kelly Parmer; grandchildren, Melissa (Steve) Rinehart, Nikki (Dave) Eyssen, Shawn McDonald and Brandon (Katelynd) McDonald; great-grandchildren, Carson, Peanut, Briar, Eastyn, Carter, Chase, Rilynn, Eliza, Braxton and his great-grandson and best friend, Bryce; a sister, Barbara (Bill) Lambert; brother-in-law, George Reffitt; and brother and sister-in-law, Don and Sherry Hankins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Kay is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Hankins) Parmer.

A celebration of life service will take place on Saturday, Nov. 27, at 3 p.m. at the Willow Grove Advent Christian Church; 7192 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.   

The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Kay "Pa" Parmer.
