The staff at the Laurels of Mount Vernon recognized Veterans Day, Nov. 11, providing special recognition to the residents who served the country.

Staff nurse and Army veteran Linda Bradish was recognized along with a resident from England (once a member of the Royal Air Force), who received a special blanket and special gifts to signify her service in the RAF.

During the recognition ceremony, all residents received candles made by activity assistant Dee Wojtseck as well as Veterans Day military pins and blankets.

“The dining room was decked out with military decorations in honor of our veterans whom we appreciate so much,” said activities director Sonjia Allonas.

Staff stopped in during the presentation to thank veterans for their service, and a special lunch was prepared by Missy Bender and Curtis Farley.

“It was an honor for our team to host this Veterans Day celebration, showing much appreciation to our veterans,” Allonas said.
