MOUNT VERNON – James L. “Jim” Beach, 93, of Mount Vernon passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on Oct. 11, 1928, in Mount Vernon to the late Lawrence and Sara Elizabeth (Ackerman) Beach.
Jim retired from PPG in Mount Vernon. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, watching and feeding the squirrels and listening to Jim Reeves music. Jim was an excellent guitar player and a wonderful cook.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Monte (John) Annett of Fredericktown; his son, James R. Beach of Mount Vernon; stepdaughters, Darlene (Peter Ennen) Hess of Albuquerque, N.M., Kathleen Scarbury of Marengo and Tina (Kevin) Hyland of Ham Lake, Minn.; stepsons, Ron (Judy) Hess of Howard and Don (Debbie) Hess of Howard; four grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 19 step great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three step great-great-grandchildren; brother, Steve (Kathy) Beach of Gaylord, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Florence (Rohring) Beach on Sept. 18, 2021; sisters, Elizabeth, Barbara and Frances; and a daughter-in-law, Jacki Beach.
The family will have a graveside service on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Minister Ben McKinstry officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Salvation Army in Jim’s memory.
