CIRCLEVILLE – Verna Lurene (Detty) Fry passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at Pickaway Manor in Circleville. She was born April 30, 1928, in Circleville to the late Howard and Gladys (Fouty) Detty. In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Fry; two sons, Ronald E. Fry and Daniel Fry; daughters-in-law, Cheryl Fry and Becky Fry from Mount Vernon; brothers, Delbert, Willard, Ralph, David and Maynard Detty; and sisters, Gilberta Detty, Thelma Everhart and Willa Miller.
Verna is survived by brother, Larry (Nancy) Detty; sister, Rosalyn (Harry) Benson; daughter-in-law, Brenda Fry of Mount Vernon; and five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Verna was an avid bowler and camper. She worked at J.C. Penney and local golf courses. She was a member and elder of the First Christian Church.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Darling Run Cemetery near Warsaw. There will be visitation at Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
