MARTINSBURG – Kathleen “Kate” Bebout, 90, of Martinsburg passed away on Friday morning, Oct. 15, 2021, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on March 29, 1931, in Utica to the late Harry and Hattie (Spurgeon) Hutton.
Kate was a life member of the Utica Church of Christ and attended the Martinsburg Church of Christ. She retired from Licking Rural Electric with over 35 years of service. In her spare time, she volunteered with the American Red Cross Blood Drives and the Martinsburg Food Pantry. Kate enjoyed quilting, baking and gardening, but most of all she loved to spend time with her grandkids.
Kate is survived by her sons, Darrell James (Mary) Bebout of Mount Vernon, Charles Edwin Bebout of Utica and Harry Earl (Melanie) Bebout of St. Louisville; grandchildren, Rita Diane (Nathan) Bebout Kerr of Utica, Rebecca Ann (Brandon) Bebout Rhoads of Utica, Sara Elaine Bebout of Utica, Paul Tyler Bebout of Utica, James Donald Bebout of St. Louisville and Andrew Joseph Bebout of St. Louisville; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth G. Kerr, Luke J. Rhoads, Evelyn G. Rhoads and Colton M. Rhoads; a sister, Donelda Loretta Hutton Baer of Rudyard, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwin Bebout, on Sept. 9, 1994; sisters, Norma Virginia Hutton and Marion Louise Hutton McMahon; and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Bebout.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, with Minister Victor Slutz officiating. Kate will be laid to rest beside her husband, Jim, in Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Central Ohio or the Utica Church of Christ or the Martinsburg Church of Christ in Kate’s memory.
