MOUNT VERNON – Velma Mae Hunt, 88, of Mount Vernon passed away on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus.

She was born on April 13, 1933, in Fredericktown to the late Alva and Martha (Marts) Snyder. Velma was very proud of the fact that she was an A.A. survivor for over 40 years. 

She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Mike) Shaffer, Peggy Hunt and Debbie Robertson; her sons, Jerry Hunt, Richard (Jo Ella) Hunt and Larry (Ginger Tablett) Hunt; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brother, Ralph Snyder; and her sister, Helen Onie.

In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hunt; her daughter, Jane Hunt; her sister, Mary Jenkins; her brothers, Donald, Roy and Clarence Snyder; and her daughter-in-law, Connie Shoults.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, in Amity Cemetery beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Red Cross.
