FREDERICKTOWN – Suzanne R. Rex, 68, of Fredericktown passed away comfortably at Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon on Oct. 9, 2021, after battling multiple sclerosis for 20 years. Suzanne was born April 9, 1953, in Mount Vernon to the late Dr. Robert H. Mayer and Adelaide A. Mayer (Reed), also deceased.

She was a graduate of Mount Vernon Senior High and Ohio University. She was married to Allen Rowland for 37 years when he passed away on March 16, 2016. They had no children. Upon her husband's passing, she was at Brookdale Retirement Facility. On Jan. 1, 2020, she joined Facebook where her first boyfriend, Steve Rex, saw her post. They reconnected quickly and were married on May 8, 2020.

Suzanne loved cats and was very generous to the local cat and dog shelters in Mount Vernon, which will continue.

Suzanne’s wish was that there be no funeral service. Part of her ashes will be buried at Memorial Gardens beside her parents’ site, and the other part will be kept by her husband.

Suzanne is survived by her husband, Stephen P. Rex Sr.; mother-in-law. Dorothy J. Rex; stepsons, Stephen P. Rex Jr. and Nicholas H. Rex; and step-grandsons, Bodhi Z. Rex and Thaddius L. Rex.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Knox County.
