Wayne Grange met on Sept. 17 at the grange hall on State Route 95, west of Fredericktown. The meeting began with the installation of officers for the new calendar year of 2021-22; 14 members, three guests and two children present.

Zoey Howard's application was accepted as a new Junior member to the grange.

The flooding in Louisiana, Jordan Miller shared, will affect the grain exports for the coming year.

Thanks all that helped with the Knox County Township Association dinner on Sept. 7. We served 49 people with some miscommunication about the start time. Next dinner for the association should be Dec. 14 at the Knox County Memorial Building.

The Ohio State Grange Convention was Oct. 1-3 in Columbus. The State Youth combined with the State Juniors with a luncheon on Oct. 2 at the Marriott Dublin.

Pop tabs collected and recycled in Mount Vernon earned $4.80; the grange rounded the donation to $5, to go to the Ronald McDonald House in Columbus. $100 of what was collected at the farmers market will also be donated there.

Thanks all who helped with the farmers market with special thanks to Deb Hamilton. All members were asked to provide something once each month, with a total of three times this year.

For additional exposure for the grange, Margaret Ann Ruhl and Belinda Litt were in the Fredericktown Tomato Show Parade on Sept. 11. Ruhl and her nephews went to the Centerburg Old-Time Festival on Sept. 18. It was nice to ride in the parades with the banners for Wayne Grange. Community Service report was mailed at the end of August to the Ohio State Grange.

The Wayne Grange Auxiliary met on Sept. 16 at Hunan Gardens for the first time since the pandemic started; four members and two children present. Next meeting will be at Duffer's in Fredericktown on Oct. 21 at 12:30 p.m.

Ohio State Grange Deaf Director Judy Carrick and her companion Mary Craton were the grange's special guests. Carrick shared when replacing the batteries in your hearing aids, let them set on the counter for 2 to 5 minutes before you place them in your hearing aids – it is strongly recommended to help make your batteries last longer. The Deaf Activities Word Scramble contest was won by Sarah Howard, Willis Smith and David Dalrymple. The annual Deaf Activities meeting will be March 19, 2022, at the Ohio State Grange Office starting at 9 a.m.

Thank cards from Fredericktown United Methodist Church and TouchPointe.

New Business: The possibility of selling part of our west-side land to the Stauffers; about 1/3 to 1/2 of an acre. Having Stanley Steamer come and clean the floors of the grange discussion was tabled until next month.

Next meeting will be Friday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m.
