MOUNT VERNON – Directed by Dr. Benjamin Locke, the Knox County Symphony will make its first public appearance of the season with the annual free Children's Concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26, at the Schnormeier Event Center at Ariel-Foundation Park.
With a theme of “Musical Treasure Hunt,” the concert will feature a potpourri of music on a treasure hunt for classical melodies. In addition, a nonagenarian celebration marking the 90th birthday of violist William E. McCulloh, emeritus professor of classics and a founding member of the Knox County Symphony.
Designed for people of all ages, this informal, one-hour concert will also have art activities organized by the Kenyon College Gund Gallery Associates. Event attendees are invited to join a reception with cookies, cake and cider after the concert.
Guests may bring their own chairs or use the park's. As a reminder, smoking and pets are prohibited inside the fenced area around Schnormeier Event Center. Watch for announcements on the park's Facebook page should there be inclement weather the day of the concert.
