MOUNT VERNON – Ada V. Clawson, 94, of Mount Vernon passed away at her home on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021.

She was born on July 29, 1927, in Mount Vernon to the late Elmer and Elizabeth (Earl) Newton Sr. Ada was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Holiday, Fla. She was also a member of the Beacon Square Civic Center in Holiday, Fla.

She is survived by her son, John (Jayne) Clawson; her daughter, Alice (Doug Leonard) Burson; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her brother, Donald Newton; and her sisters, Mary McCullough and Nancy Beeman.

In addition to her parents, Ada was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Clawson; her brothers, Ralph, Clyde, Clarence, Earl, Elmer and Dennis Newton; her sister, Patricia Lane; and her canine companion, Dusty.

Friends may call on Thursday, Sept. 9, from 10-11 a.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will follow, beginning at 11 a.m., with Mr. Randy Reed officiating. Burial will take place in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
