MOUNT VERNON – Bette Lou Snyder, 88, of Mount Vernon passed away on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, at Knox Community Hospital. She was born on July 24, 1933, in Portsmouth to the late Dudley and Helena (Johnson) Hall.
Bette had worked as a manager for Dollar General. She enjoyed crocheting, going to the Casinos, bowling, playing cards, watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and golf, but above everything else she loved the time she spent with her family and watching the grandchildren participate in their sporting events.
Bette is survived by her children, Frank (Sheila) Snyder, Helena Fawcett Smith, Candace (John) Hunter, Louise Fawcett Dill and Tina (Frankie) Fawcett Cousins; 14 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Vanessa (Dave) McCullen, Jeanetta Hines and Pamela (Randy) Fox; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Bette was preceded in death by her husbands, James Fawcett and Frank Snyder; sons, James and Lawrence Fawcett; grandchildren, Roger Charles Akers and Beverly Gillespie; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Gillespie and Taylor Sherman; and sisters, Patricia Pennington and Anita Burmeister.
The family will have a graveside service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 25, in Eastview Cemetery, Centerburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Bette’s memory.
