MOUNT VERNON – Samuel Durham Henderson, “Mick,” 81, of Mount Vernon passed away peacefully on Aug. 7, 2021. He was born on Nov. 3, 1939, in Jackson, Ga., to Charles and Geraldine Henderson.

Mick graduated in 1958 from Groveton High School in Alexandria, Va., and served in the National Guard from 1962-68. He worked in the telecommunications industry for 35 years before retiring in 1998 from AT&T. Mick said the best times of retirement were the ones he spent with his granddaughters, Katie and Carley. He also loved spending winters in Florida with his beloved wife, Pat.  

Mick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Henderson; daughter, Kim Springer of Mount Vernon; granddaughters, Katie and Carley Springer of Westerville; brother, Charlie Henderson (Mary) of North Carolina; and sister, Carol Grace (Dave) of California.
