MOUNT VERNON – Lois Jean Tanner, 91, of Mount Vernon died peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at the home she shared with her daughter.
A devout Christian, Lois was a longtime member of the Grove City Church of the Nazarene and in recent years attended the Beulah United Methodist Church. She also had been a member of the Red Hat Society.
Most important to Lois was her family. She was the matriarch of the family, and nothing brought her more joy than being a wife, mother and grandmother. She touched the hearts of everyone she met. Lois lived and worked to care for them, was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James R. Tanner; parents, Percy W. and Dollie H. (Trail) Winland; brother, Tommy Winland; sister, Maxine Stanley; and grandson, Steven Tanner, Jr.
Lois is survived by her sons, Steven (Yvonne) Tanner and Rock (Peg) Tanner; daughters, Vicki Drapp and Kim Smith; grandchildren, Troy, Branham and Dollie Tanner, Rock Jr., Caitlyn and Zoey Tanner, Klanci and Cassidy Smith; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. State Route 61, (at SR 3), Sunbury, OH. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Beulah UMC, 8261 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon (Bangs). Pastor Thom Fowler officiating. Interment to follow at Eastview Cemetery, Centerburg.
