The jobs are out there in health care and law enforcement. All you need is the training. Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) could help.
The college is offering grants for short-term programs that help students land jobs in health care and law enforcement.
“Funded by the Ohio Department of Education, short-term certificate grants are available to students who indicate that they have financial need for the grant as well as students who are currently in or exiting foster care,” the college said in a news release.
The grants of up to $2,000 can be used for five programs: addiction studies, emergency medical technician basic certificate, peace officer basic training, phlebotomy certificate and state-tested nurse aid certificate.
"These are limited funds and will be awarded until the funds are exhausted," the college said.
Grants don’t cover the cost of books and supplies.
The programs prepare students for entry-level jobs in their chosen fields and can be competed in one or two semesters.
Classes start Aug. 25. You can apply at cotc.edu/apply. You can reach an admissions representative by emailing cotcadmissions@mail.cotc.edu or by calling any of COTC's four campus locations in Newark, Coshocton, Mount Vernon and Pataskala.
