BUTLER – Thomas E. Steel, 81, of Butler passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Mansfield to the late Carl and Lillian (Styles) Steel Sr.   

Tom graduated from Mansfield Madison High School. He owned and operated Knox Marine from 1980 to 2005. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and flying airplanes in his younger days. Most of all, he loved being around his loving family.   

He is survived by his wife, Betty Steel; son, Mike (Lori) Steel; grandson, Brodhi (Katie) Steel; and several nieces and nephews.  

Along with his parents, Tom is preceded in death by brothers William, and Carl Steel Jr.; and sisters Virginia Steel and Judy Zellner.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Aug. 6, from 4-7 p.m. with a funeral service to be held on Saturday, Aug. 7, at noon at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, OH 43019, with Pastor Patrick Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Knox County; 17700 Coshocton Ave., Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
