MARENGO – Richard Clifton “Dick” Sears, Jr., 80, of Marengo died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at his home surrounded by loving family.  

Retired paint technician at PPG with 38 years of service. Former Bloomfield Township and Cemetery Trustee. Dick enjoyed tracing his family lines and was a member of the Morrow County and Ohio genealogical societies.  He formerly was a longtime 4-H adviser. He volunteered for the Red Cross, voting polls and others, and was a part-time farmer. Dick was proud to be a veteran of the U.S. Navy. 

Born Sept. 30, 1940 in Sparta, Ohio, to the late Richard C. Sr. and Mabel Pearl (Corbin) Sears. Also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn J. Sears; daughter, Terri Sears; brother, Norman Sears; sister, Lois Martin; and an infant sister.

Dick is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Cindy L. and Paul Goulker of Gahanna and Shelby J. Emerson of Dayton; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Eyan and Eren Emerson of Dayton and Christopher Poulton of Delaware; brothers, Ken (Ellen) Sears of Northridge, Calif., David Sears of Columbus, Gary Rumel of Newark and Carl (Trish) Barber of Jamestown, Tenn.; sisters, Wanda Jean (Jim) Chandler of Mount Vernon and Sharon Reece of Newark; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 6, at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. State Route 61, (at SR 3), Sunbury, where the family will be receiving visitors from 5 p.m. until time of service. Private family interment to take place later at Bloomfield Cemetery, Centerburg.
