MOUNT VERNON – Rose Marie Johnson, 88, of Mount Vernon and formerly of Mansfield passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. She was born on Dec. 28, 1932, in Aurora, Ill. 

Rose loved to bake and took great pleasure in filling everyone’s empty tins with Christmas cookies, fudge and candies. She also enjoyed making homemade crafts, embroidery, crocheting, playing cards and games, quilting, working in her garden and canning vegetables. Rose had a soft spot for animals. Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished nothing more in this world than her family, including her Country Court crew. 

She is survived by her daughter Marty (Gerry) Vogel of Howard; two grandchildren, Dan (Renea Seacrist) Lendman and Christy (Ryan) Warden; two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kaitlyn Lendman; a half-sister, Gladys Vana of Rockford, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Dolores Elliot of Indianapolis, Ind.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Johnson (2003); her parents, Claude M. Wells and Arna E. (Morrison) Wells; and a brother, John Wells.

Friends may call on Thursday, Aug. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in Mansfield Cemetery, 389 Altamont Ave., Mansfield, OH 44902.
