MOUNT VERNON – Kylee Matern added another award to her collection on Monday.
The outfielder was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Second-Team after a superb year in the classroom and on the field. The outfielder wrapped up her sophomore year with a 3.79 GPA. Matern is currently majoring in biology (pre-physician).
The North Vernon, Ind., product was a difference-maker from the leadoff spot for the Lady Cougars in 2021. Matern hit .451 (second in the Crossroads League) for MVNU on the season and had a slugging percentage of .660. Matern finished the season with a team-high 65 hits and led the entire nation in triples with 11.
