NEWARK – A revamped degree providing significantly enhanced job prospects for graduates has joined the academic roster at Central Ohio Technical College (COTC).
The associate of applied science in engineering technology provides a triple win, according to a COTC press release: access to an in-demand career, an excellent salary and advancement opportunities.
"Over the past year, COTC gathered input about how to structure our engineering program directly from the most important source – central Ohio industries," COTC President John M. Berry, Ph.D., said in the release. "What we learned was clear – local employers need associate degree graduates with a wide range of general engineering skills."
The degree’s key advantage is that it was shaped with input from regional employers specifically to meet the engineering needs of local industries.
“It's just the kind of education that many recent high school graduates and underemployed workers want and need to fast-track into this growing career field,” the release said. “COTC grads get an inside track with hiring managers and immediate employability in a wide range of engineering technology roles in a variety of industries.”
COTC says engineering technicians are a growing field, with associate degree holders in Ohio earning a median annual salary from $55,000 to $63,000, according to Ohio's Top Jobs list.
“And with demand for engineering jobs in Ohio projected to continue to grow, it's a great time to start earning an engineering technology degree. Smart choice for engineering education,” according to COTC.
Other key advantages include availability of scholarships, affordable tuition and an ABET accredited teaching staff.
COTC is now enrolling for autumn semester, which begins August 25. Apply for free now at cotc.edu/apply. To speak with an admissions representative, email cotcadmissions@mail.cotc.edu or call COTC's Knox Campus at 740-392-2526.
