MOUNT VERNON – Louann Frances McMahon, 78, of Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Aug. 22, 1942, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Harmon Edison and Josephine Louise (Wade) Flowers. Louann attended Saint Vincent de Paul High School and was a graduate of the Computer Technology Institute of Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1973. Louann enjoyed a successful career in accounting, retiring from Nelson and Nelson CPAs in 2005.

Her most memorable employment was as the assistant credit manager of the Honolulu Paper Company, a subsidiary of Boise-Cascade, in Honolulu and as the administrative assistant to the Commanding Officer, Naval Medical Center Detachment, U.S Embassy, London.

Louann enjoyed traveling, photography, and collecting various items such as seashells, oil paintings, Emmett Kelly figurines, Japanese Netsukes, Chinese porcelain and matchbooks from around the world. She was most proud of her extensive collection of music and British films. 

Louann was very supportive and contributed significantly to her husband’s naval career, as he considered her to be the “best Navy wife who ever served.”

She is survived by her husband, David, whom she married on Oct. 12, 1969, in Las Vegas; a daughter, Sarah Anne Seidwitz of Barberton, Ohio; a son, Joseph Lee Boyd of Mount Vernon; a stepdaughter, Kelly McMahon of Mount Vernon; a stepson, Kevin McMahon of Howard;. three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jackie Lee Boyd, in 1967 and a brother, William Flowers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 29, beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 30, beginning at 10 a.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery in Gambier. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Louann’s name may be made to Kindred Hospice.
