MOUNT VERNON – Patricia Lou Hayes Robey, 90, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021, at the Moorland-Hughes Rehabilitation Center, Mount Vernon. Patty was born on Sept. 2, 1930, to Hallie and Irene (Bell) Hayes.

Patty graduated from Homer High School in 1948 and married her high school sweetheart, Donald Robey, in 1949. They were married for 66 years until Don’s death in 2015.

She and Don helped get the Homer Baseball league started. He was coaching and she was running the refreshment stand. They traveled all over the U.S. in their pop-up camper. She was a member of the Homer Presbyterian Church in Homer. She spent a lot of her time in her later years sewing comforters, which she gave to family and friends and donated to nursing homes, Hospice and The Salvation Army. There may also be a few pretty aprons out there that were custom made by Pat. Playing cards with the girls was one of her favorite things. If you were driving through the Fairway Condos and saw one with beautiful flowers, you knew you had found Patty’s condo. That twinkle in her eye will be missed.

Surviving are her children, Gary, Mike (Karen), Don, Peggy and Bryan; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Hayes and Raymond Butcher; and sister, Norma Flint.

In addition to her husband, Donald; and parents, she was proceeded in death by her brothers, Hallie Hayes, Jr., and Gordon Hayes; and sister, Sondra Hayes Kierns.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 30, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Marvin Haught will be officiating. Burial will follow in Homer Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Patty’s name may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.
