MOUNT VERNON – Eileen Moore, 98, of Mount Vernon passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born on June 24, 1923 in Fredericktown to the late Don and Vera (Randall) Tyson.

Eileen was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She truly loved her family. Eileen and Bob had known each other for over 90 years. They attended elementary school as classmates at Hiawatha school in Mount Vernon, growing up in the same neighborhood. There was a group of kids in that area known as the Pine Ridgers; they were a part of that group. They graduated from Mount Vernon High school in 1941. This year was their 80th anniversary of their high school graduation. Eileen and Bob married Dec. 31, 1941. Shortly after their marriage, Bob left for the Army during WWII. He was gone 3 years 6 months and 18 days, serving his time in North Africa, Italy, Germany and France. Eileen worked in the photography business and sold china while anxiously awaiting Bob's return. After returning, they built a home on the Upper Fredericktown Road in 1947 and started a family: Gary, 1947; Don, 1949; and Mike, 1954. Eileen was a successful real estate agent, acquiring her real estate license in the mid '60s with Central Realty, later acquiring her broker's license with her own office as Moore Realty. Eileen retired in the mid '80s. After retiring, Eileen and Bob traveled across Canada and the United States, spending time in Florida in the winter months the past 30 years. Eileen and Bob have celebrated many anniversaries together with their children, from Nashville's Grand Ole Opry Hotel to their 75th at the Liberty Aviation Museum, New Year's Eve, Mom wearing her wedding dress and Dad his WWII uniform. This New Year's would be their 80th.

Eileen is survived by her loving husband of almost 80 years, Robert (Bob) Moore; her three sons, Gary (Diane) Moore, Don Moore and Michael (Marcia) Moore, all of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Brian, Heather, Jennifer and Cory; great-grandchildren, Andrea, Matthew, Elliette, Keira, Raegan and Bray; and great-great-grandchildren, Jayce, Brileigh, Emersyn and Ensley.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald and Richard Tyson; and a sister, Betty Hill.
