MOUNT VERNON – James Noah Tindall, 86, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at the Laurels of Mount Vernon. He was born on Feb. 11, 1935, in Mount Vernon, the son of Noah and Martina (O’Brien) Tindall. James was a 1954 graduate of Fredericktown High School, where he was a standout on the basketball team and still holds several records today.
James was an accomplished musician where most of his talents focused on the steel guitar. He toured several years with the band Fat Chance in Florida and KD Ryder in Canada. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit, storytelling and his infectious laugh.
James was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Elliott) Tindall, whom he married on October 28, 1970; his children, James A. (Holly) Tindall of Ashtabula, Stephen R. (Penny) Tindall of Mount Vernon, Robert L. “Bob” (David Tuscano) Tindall of Dublin, Donald E. Tindall of Stockport, Glenna C. Elliott of Greeley, Colorado, and Elizabeth A. (John) Savage of Longwood, Florida; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lee Ann Crider of Mount Vernon.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David M. Tindall; two sisters, Marjorie Curry and Margaret Reese; and a brother, Charles “Don” Tindall.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 303 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Father Olvera will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
