Streby's consistency leads to 5th-place finish at Stymie

Will Streby of Mount Vernon finished fifth out of 42 total golfers at the Stymie Golf Supply Challenge on Tuesday and Wednesday at Turnberry Golf Course in Pickerington.

Streby shot 77 on the first day and a 78 on the second day to finish with an 11-over par 155.

Centerburg’s Bennett Hill competed in the 13-15 division as well. He improved his score by three strokes with an 83 on the second day to shoot 169.

Johnstown’s Clay Bruning shot a 75 in the first round and finished 10-over par at 154 in the boys 16-18 division.

Marengo’s Emerson Grassbaugh also competed in 16-18. He was solid both days, shooting a best 79 in Round 1 to finish with a 15-over 159.

Mount Vernon’s Spencer Hughes improved his first-round score by 11 strokes to finish with a 181 overall in the 13-15 age group.

Upper Arlington’s Brady Catalano shot a 69 on the first day to finish with a 1-under 143, winning the age group by five strokes.

Mount Vernon’s Benjamin Bridges beat his first-day score by two strokes and finished with a 16-over 160 in the 16-18 division. Powell’s Ethan McGarvey beat the field of 59 other golfers with a minus-3 141, on the strength of a first day score of 69.

Centerburg’s Amaiah Gammell improved by three strokes on the second day with a 102 to finish with a 207 overall. Teammate Somi Bright shot a 223. Pickerington’s Cassie Tasney won the 12-person 16-18 girls division with a 158, finishing 14 strokes above par.
