MOUNT VERNON – Beverly E. Wantland, 94, of Mount Vernon passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on June 20, 1927, in Mount Vernon to the late Robert and Grace (Estel) Fletcher.
Beverly worked in the accounting department for Shalimar, Continental Can, Ludlow and Karl and Company. She was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church. Beverly enjoyed shopping, taking care of her cats and feeding the birds and squirrels.
Beverly is survived by her son, William (Kathy) Wantland of Howard; granddaughter, Heather (Benjamin) Hardigree of Bardstown, KY; her sister, Patricia Strode of Peoria, IL; and nieces, Lou Ann Wolford of Fredericktown and Laura Snider of Mount Vernon.
The family would like to thank Mona Morehouse for the excellent care and friendship she provided Beverly.
In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, in 1996; sister, Sue Harris; and a brother, Kenneth Fletcher.
The family will have a graveside service on Saturday, July 17, at 1 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
