FREDERICKTOWN – Bethel C. Payne, 87, of Fredericktown passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Country Court Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Oct. 30, 1933, in Monroe County, Ohio.
Bethel was a 1951 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. She was a member of the Middlebury Grange, W-8 Card Club, Colonial City Moose Lodge Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4027.
Bethel was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Whether it was attending events, social gatherings or sitting down for a simple conversation, she enjoyed nothing more than being with her family and sharing quality time together.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Floyd Payne; her children, Robert (Margaret Sherer) Payne of Fredericktown, Debra Mobley of Butler and Deryl (Eny) Payne of Fredericktown; eleven grandchildren, Carl Payne, Autumn Bachelder, Shad Nye, Monique Nye, Ty Nye, Pink Payne, Pilar Payne, Wyatt Payne, Ringo Payne, Lisa Siegfried, Michael Sherer; and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Woolridge; her mother and stepfather, Ruth (Hissom) and William Hartman, an infant daughter, Sally Payne; and son-in-law, David Mobley.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 12, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, OH 43019, where friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Patrick Bailey will be officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
